Santa Rosalía Harbor Anchorage

27° 20.4′ N · 112° 15.8′ W

The breakwater-enclosed dársena of a French-built copper town — the gateway to the northern Sea and the last real town, cell signal and ATMs before Bahía de los Ángeles.

Practical

Room for 3-4 boats in the middle of the northern section, 15-25 ft over funky sand and sometimes gooey mud; junk on the bottom (cars, pieces of the old marina) — use a trip line. Avoid the concrete slab at about 27°20.327'N 112°15.799'W, visible only at low tide. Keep out of the way of cargo ships, Pemex barges, pangas and the ferry. Entering, give the NE (red) side room: part of the wall has collapsed into the channel. From the south, rocky shoals extend from the river mouth and Punta Santa Águeda about 1.5 nm SE of the entrance. Protected N and W. Dinghy landing: coordinate with the Fonatur marina office, or share beach space with pangas north of the ferry dock. Very hot midsummer to early fall ('Santa Roast-alia').
