Punta Tosca Lunch Stop
24° 19.8′ N · 111° 41.4′ W · approximate
A daytime lee east of reef-fringed Punta Tosca at the south-east tail of Isla Santa Margarita, used by northbound boats to rest or time their arrival at Mag Bay.
Practical
Coordinate is approximate: The Log anchored 1.5-2 nm north-east of the old and new lighthouses after giving the point a full 1 nm berth; the pin is placed that distance NE of the OSM Punta Tosca lighthouse (24.310 N 111.712 W) - sound carefully. Good for a lunch stop or daytime nap in fair NW weather only: wide open to the south and NW wind waves can suddenly wrap around the point - not recommended overnight. You are looking north into the dangerous Canal de Rehusa, which must be avoided. Southbound, clear Punta Tosca by at least 0.5 nm in 90-100 ft.
