The Log (2026): in the south end of Mag Bay, shelter can be found at Puerto Cortés in the lee of the Navy's pier - call ahead on VHF 22. Bahía Almejas is about 414 sq km, connected to the main bay through Canal Gaviota, with a maximum depth of about 27 m (Wikipedia); GeoNames centres it at 24.490 N 111.707 W. Do not try to enter or leave by the southern Canal de Rehusa - breakers, rip currents, rock reefs and mud flats. No services for yachts; Puerto Chale fishing hamlet lies on the mainland shore.
