Puerto San Carlos Whale-Watching Pangas
24° 47.5′ N · 112° 6.7′ W · approximate
Winter panga trips out of Mag Bay's only real town to watch gray whales - the easiest whale encounter for boats anchored off Puerto San Carlos.
Practical
Coordinate is approximate: placed on the town waterfront near the mapped restaurants on Avenida Puerto La Paz (OpenStreetMap). Wikipedia ES: the port receives tourists during the gray whale season, and sport fishing (marlin, sailfish, dorado, tuna) is also offered. The Mexican Marina Association guide: anyone wanting to observe whales at close range must contract an authorized, licensed provider - keep your own boat clear. Our sources name no individual operator; ask at the hotels in town (The Log mentions three small family hotels with restaurants) or the port captain. Anchor north of the commercial piers as the port captain directs.
