Playa La Manzanilla Beach and Dinghy Landing

19° 17.0′ N · 104° 47.3′ W · approximate

A long, curving, gently sloping beach running about a mile along the southeast corner of Bahía Tenacatita in front of La Manzanilla village, lined with palapa restaurants and backed by the snowbird town — the place to land for groceries, coffee and lunch.

Practical

Position approximate: a point on the OpenStreetMap beach outline in front of the town plaza. Most cruisers anchor in the main Tenacatita anchorage and run about 3 miles across the bay by dinghy; no published anchorage off the town itself was found. The surf on the beach builds through the day (Blue Water Sailing), so go early, land through the gentle morning break and leave before the afternoon breeze builds it up; pangas are pulled up on the beach and can help guide you in. Wikivoyage notes snorkeling just off the beach and a swim, SUP or kayak out to the offshore rocks to see the underwater statue of María Asunción. The crocodile sanctuary is at the northwest end of town.

Best for

Dinghy landing for La Manzanilla's shops and restaurants
