Tenacatita Cruiser Raft-Up and Bocce

19° 17.9′ N · 104° 50.3′ W · approximate

Tenacatita's famous social calendar: a Friday-evening dinghy raft-up hosted by the self-styled 'Mayor of Tenacatita', with potluck appetizers and book swaps, plus afternoon swims to shore, beach bocce and volleyball and Mexican Train at the palapa.

Practical

Position approximate: in the anchorage. In 2009 the routine ran: Gold Coast net 8:00 am to 9:15 am; snorkeling, kayaking and bird walks in the morning; a 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm swim to shore from a rendezvous boat about a third of a mile out, walking the beach toward the Blue Bay resort; and happy hour from 6:30 pm. In January 2007 about 50 dinghies joined a Friday raft-up. A 2011 raft-up elected a new Mayor. The tradition depends on who is in the anchorage each season — listen to the Gold Coast net for this year's schedule. Bring your own drinks and a dish; tie together and drift.
