Pelican Rock (Cabo San Lucas)

22° 52.8′ N · 109° 53.9′ W · approximate

A calm, protected reef inside Cabo's bay that slopes from shallow snorkeling water into a deep canyon with a famous underwater sandfall - the standard first snorkel or dive in Cabo.

Practical

Coordinate is approximate: placed on the bay side of the Land's End peninsula between the harbor entrance and Lover's Beach, where local dive operators describe Pelican Rock and the adjoining sandfall; no published position was found. Dive Cabo: all levels; sand patch with barrier reef; moray eels, mobula rays, pufferfish, scorpionfish. All Land's End sites are within about 5 minutes by boat of the marina. Inside the protected Cabo San Lucas marine park (a CONANP Conservation Passport area) - follow park rules and go with a licensed tour or dive boat rather than anchoring on the reef.
