Humpback Whale Season (Los Cabos)
22° 52.5′ N · 109° 53.7′ W · approximate
Humpback whales breed and calve in the waters around Land's End every winter - breaching, tail-slapping and singing within sight of the Cabo San Lucas anchorage.
Practical
Pin placed at El Arco. Visit Los Cabos gives the season as mid-December to April. Licensed operators (Cabo Adventures, Cabo Expeditions, Whale Watch Cabo, Pelagic Safari, Cabo Trek) run zodiac and boat tours with hydrophones from the marina. Under way, slow down and keep well clear of whales; anyone wanting a close approach must use an authorized provider. Divers at Cabo Pulmo can hear humpbacks singing underwater in winter.
