Manglar Zacatecas Mangrove Paddle (Ensenada de La Paz)
24° 10.5′ N · 110° 26.0′ W
The largest mangrove stand inside the Ensenada de La Paz, the enclosed lagoon behind the El Mogote sand spit - a quiet kayak or dinghy exploration away from the city waterfront.
Practical
Position: centre of the 'Manglar Zacatecas' mangrove polygon in OpenStreetMap, on the inner (south) side of the Ensenada de La Paz about 11 km west of the Malecón. Go La Paz: La Paz kayak routes run 'from mangrove swamps to bays with virgin beaches'. Reach it by kayak or dinghy from the El Mogote side of the La Paz anchorage (cross the sandbar only at the connecting channel, per Club Cruceros). The Ensenada is a long, unmarked paddle: no depth data for the lagoon was verified, so plan around the tide and carry water, and keep clear of mangrove roots - mangroves are protected. Not a yacht anchorage.
Best for
Half-day kayak or dinghy outing from the La Paz anchorage
