Los Pilares Anchorage

26° 53.3′ N · 111° 48.3′ W

A snug fish-camp cove on the outside of the Concepción peninsula — the efficient overnight for boats running the coast without detouring into the bay.

Practical

Most of the bay is rock, but there is an excellent sand patch near the middle for 2-3 boats in 10-15 ft, good holding. Protected S and W; with much east in the wind, waves wrap round the point. Do not hug either entrance point. Active fish camp in season. Snorkel the rocks at the south end and south point — lots of leopard grouper.

Best for

Coastal hop between San Juanico and Santo Domingo
