Los Ayala–Punta Raza Trails (Playa del Toro)
21° 1.5′ N · 105° 18.0′ W
Two jungle footpaths climb over the headland from the beach village of Los Ayala to a mirador and the small cove of Playa del Toro on Punta Raza. They make a half-day walk from the Guayabitos anchorage.
Practical
Trail 1 and Trail 2 start from signed trailheads at the west end of Los Ayala, about 2 km south-west of Guayabitos along the beach. They lead to a viewpoint over Jaltemba Bay and down to Playa del Toro and the Ensenada El Toro cove. Local guides also describe walking over the hill from Los Ayala to Playa Frideras, where you can buy fresh fish, and taking a panga to the quiet beaches at the south end of the bay. Take water and start early, because the trails are hot and unshaded in places. Coordinate is the OpenStreetMap 'Trail Head #1' node.
