La Quebrada Cliff Divers

16° 50.8′ N · 99° 54.9′ W

Acapulco's famous show since 1934: divers free-climb a sea-cliff gorge, pray at a shrine to the Virgin of Guadalupe, then plunge 30-41 m (98-135 ft) into a channel 4.8-5.8 m deep, timing their entry to the incoming swell; the later shows are lit by torches.

Practical

Coordinates from Spanish Wikipedia. Watch from the ticketed terraces or from La Perla restaurant at the Hotel El Mirador (reservations; arrive early for a railing table, 2026). One daytime show (1:00pm per a 2025 report) and several after dark; confirm times locally. By boat: S/V Some Tuesday anchored in the middle of the cove in 55 ft, about 700 ft from the diving rock, to watch from the cockpit; the cove is tight with large rocks, so go in only in calm conditions and hold off a respectful distance. Divers may swim out for a tip.
