La Marina Acapulco
16° 50.4′ N · 99° 54.5′ W
A marina beside the yacht club whose staff welcome the few transient yachts that still call. Its concrete docks were never properly repaired after Hurricane Otis.
Practical
Position from OpenStreetMap ('La Marina'). Feb 2026 report (S/V Some Tuesday): docks are bare concrete with no rub rails and the wind can pin you on; rig all fenders on the dock side and practice a spring-line departure. A Walmart Express is across the street; the airport is a taxi ride away. Practical Sailor (2025) reports that Acapulco's marinas have been rebuilt. Rates: verify locally. S/V Some Tuesday noted the US State Department's Level 4 'Do not travel' advisory for Acapulco (2026); locals advised sticking to tourist areas and daylight hours. Post-Otis status (marina website, checked Oct 2026): the marina was completely destroyed by Hurricane Otis in October 2023, is being rehabilitated and rebuilt, and says it is ready to receive fixed and visiting boats of all lengths; slip count, services and rates are not published, so email marinaacapulco@jarestate.com or call the office (+52 744 483 6143) for a berth. The fuel dock where S/V Some Tuesday fueled in Feb 2026 is bare concrete: fender heavily.
