Acapulco Bay Moorings (Vicente)

16° 50.8′ N · 99° 54.3′ W · approximate

A handful of private mooring balls on the north side of Acapulco Bay, directly in front of the Port Captain's office, run by a local named Vicente: the recommended way to stop in Acapulco since Hurricane Otis littered the bottom with wreckage.

Practical

Approximate: positioned off the Malecón in front of the Port Captain, as Practical Sailor describes; get the exact ball from Vicente. Five buoys (Practical Sailor, Aug 2025); 400 MXN/night with balls in good condition (noforeignland reviews). Contact Vicente on WhatsApp +52 744 439 8184 several days ahead and again a few hours before you enter the bay; he lives over an hour away. He can arrange water taxis, fuel delivery and hull cleaning. Expect city and boat-traffic noise. Do not anchor near Acapulco: Otis sank every boat in the bay in Oct 2023 and debris remains on the seafloor. Practical Sailor suggests at least three nights to see the cliff divers and the museums.
