Practical

Coordinate is the Wikivoyage listing for Garrafón Reef Park (the park is ashore; the reef lies just off it). Inside Polygon 1 of the Costa Occidental de Isla Mujeres, Punta Cancún y Punta Nizuc National Park (decreed 15 March 1996). Park packages are pricey (2026 site: from US$49.50 online, Tuesday-Sunday 10:00 am-5:00 pm, dock tax extra); Wikivoyage notes you can snorkel the water next to the park for about MXN 40 via neighbouring beach clubs (verify locally). Use reef-safe sunscreen and don't stand on coral. By dinghy, approach only in calm weather - check national park rules before tying up.
