Fiesta de la Santa Cruz (Huatulco, May 3)
15° 45.2′ N · 96° 7.9′ W
Huatulco's biggest fiesta, held every May 3 in front of the Santa Cruz pier: a procession carries the Holy Cross from the Cruz del Monte to the chapel, the fishermen and their boats are blessed, and the night ends with bands, the dance of the devils and fireworks at midnight.
Practical
Position is the OpenStreetMap Capilla de la Santa Cruz (way 552918118) beside the cruise pier. The Eye Huatulco (2026): solemn mass and blessing of the cross, free communal meal of typical dishes, blessing of fishermen, families and boats, traditional dances and music, evening concerts on large stages, fireworks at midnight, plus fair rides and vendors. In 2026 the Huatulco Hotel Association added the Huatulco Natural Gastronomic Festival on May 2-3 in Santa Cruz's central park (marlin-cutting show, cultural catwalk). Expect a crowded, noisy Santa Cruz anchorage and busy dinghy dock; anchor early.
Best for
A fishermen's fiesta right off the anchorage
