Christmas and New Year's Eve in Santa Cruz Bay
15° 45.2′ N · 96° 7.9′ W
Over the holidays Santa Cruz and La Crucecita fill with Mexican visitors: evening shows on a stage by the beach, a giant tree in the La Crucecita square, candle-lit restaurant tables on the sand on New Year's Eve, and fireworks over the anchored boats at midnight.
Practical
Position is the OpenStreetMap outline of Playa Santa Cruz (way 85833656). Roads Less Traveled (2012-13) were anchored in Santa Cruz Bay with several other sailboats for New Year's Eve: a DJ and a live band played on opposite ends of the beach and fireworks went off just off the boat. Cruise ships also call over the holidays. Christmas and Semana Santa are the only times Huatulco gets crowded (Wikivoyage): book any marina berth early and expect a busy dinghy landing.
Best for
A festive anchorage over the holidays
