Bahía Santa Cruz (Huatulco)

15° 45.2′ N · 96° 7.6′ W

The working heart of Huatulco: a small bay with a harbor village, cruise-ship pier, panga darsena and three beaches, a short taxi ride from La Crucecita's shops.

Practical

S/V Liquid's logged position 15°45.17'N 96°07.61'W, in 12 ft (Dec 2017). The bottom can be rocky: look for sandy patches. Room for only three or four cruising boats among pangas (some moored bow-and-stern) and swinging charter boats. Do not anchor on the west side of the cruise-ship pier when a ship is due. One assistant port captain told Liquid they could not anchor and must use the marina, while another boat anchored without trouble; check in with the Port Captain at the harbor entrance. The dinghy landing in the darsena is crowded; tie between the dock and the wall and talk to security. Light winds and limited swell usually. Cell service; buy a beer at a beach palapa for wifi.

Best for

Errands, paperwork and the snorkeling at La Entrega
