Ensenada Blanca Anchorage

25° 43.4′ N · 111° 14.4′ W · approximate

A charted cove south of Puerto Escondido with a small fishing community whose cooperative, Pescadores de Ensenada Blanca, runs panga trips to see the park's blue whales.

Practical

Coordinate is the GeoNames 'Ensenada Blanca' cove point (OpenStreetMap's bay node is 25.72371, -111.23958), checked in-water against the OpenStreetMap coastline, used as an approximate anchorage. No cruising-guide detail on depths or protection was found online; approach in daylight, and remember the 2022 grounding of the 173-ft VIXIT on Piedras del Camaroncito—pinnacles about 3 ft under the surface about five miles south-east of Puerto Escondido near Ligüí. Reefs here do not show whitewater in calm conditions (Latitude 38). Inside Loreto Bay National Park—CONANP protected-area fee applies: a Loreto Bay National Park day pass (bracelet) was MX$215 per person in 2025, and the annual Conservation Passport (MX$3,620 in 2025) covers every federal protected area; buy online at descubreanp.conanp.gob.mx or from the rangers at La Dársena in Loreto, and carry proof aboard.
