South Friars Bay Anchorage

17° 16.4′ N · 62° 40.5′ W

A long Caribbean-side beach on the Southeast Peninsula road with a cluster of beach bars, Carambola Beach Club and reef snorkelling close in.

Practical

Open approach, but a shallow reef lies very close to shore, and there is a shallow area off the smaller beach bars (ActiveCaptain). Holding is OK, but it rolls more than White House Bay even in easterlies (Jan 2025); noforeignland users rate it 4.2/5 for dinghy access to bars and restaurants. Carambola Beach Club has a dinghy dock just inside its seawall and gives a Wi-Fi voucher with a drink. Local buses do not run out here; taxis go to town and groceries. Friars Bay Reef (40-50 ft) lies about a mile offshore for divers.

Best for

Beach-bar lunch stop on the way south
