Seal Island Reef System Marine Park

18° 16.1′ N · 63° 8.7′ W

A long, eel-shaped islet, nearly awash, at the centre of the reef system that runs from Prickly Pear toward the Anguilla mainland. The reef has hard and soft coral, reef fish, spiny lobster and hawksbill and green turtles, plus the scuttled wrecks along the north coast.

Practical

Coordinate is Seal Island itself (Wikipedia). Designated marine park: anchoring is restricted and spearfishing is banned, because the reef has been degraded by hurricanes, fishing and disease. About 8 km of reef separates the islet from the mainland, so this is not a place to navigate casually: approach only in good light, and treat it as a dive-operator site. Brochure park boundary: roughly 18°15'24"N to 18°16'46"N, 63°08'05"W to 63°12'07"W (together with Prickly Pear).
