Pointe Guignard & Coral Gardens

15° 14.4′ N · 61° 22.5′ W · approximate

A gently sloping reef off the point at the north edge of Soufriere Bay with a narrow cave at about 50 ft and a swim-through on the way back - a favourite for seahorses, frogfish and, in season, turtles; Coral Gardens next door is all big sponges and finger coral.

Practical

Position approximate: set about 250 m south-west of the OpenStreetMap 'Pointe Guignard' locality point (15.24149, -61.37327), in the water off the point. Dive Dominica: the cave is narrow and silts quickly - not recommended for divers without excellent buoyancy control or for large groups. Coral Gardens North begins around 40 ft and slopes west; currents vary from strong to very easy. Inside the SSMR (north boundary near Anse Bateau/Pointe Michel): operator-led diving only, US$2 per dive. Champagne Reef is just north for an easy second dive or snorkel.
