Danglebens Pinnacles

15° 14.3′ N · 61° 22.4′ W · approximate

A maze of five volcanic pinnacles in the north of Soufriere Bay draped in yellow sea fans and black coral, where jacks, tuna, creole wrasse, turtles and longsnout seahorses work the rocky outcrops.

Practical

Position approximate: Dive Dominica places Dangleben's within the reef system south of Pointe Guignard (with Coral Gardens North/South and L'Abym North); the point is set about 250 m off the OpenStreetMap shoreline south of Pointe Guignard - dive boats moor on LAMA buoys, do not navigate by this point. Coral Gardens North (same system) starts around 40 ft and slopes west; currents can be strong or very easy, bringing schools of horse-eyed jacks and sennet; yellow-headed jawfish in the sand at about 40 ft (Dive Dominica). Inside the Soufriere-Scotts Head Marine Reserve: dive only with a licensed operator (independent scuba needs Chief Fisheries Officer permission), SSMR user fee US$2 per person per dive (Nature Island Dive, rates to Dec 2026); no anchoring or mooring a yacht without Fisheries Division permission. Operators from Castle Comfort/Roseau are about 15 minutes away; Nature Island Dive is in Soufriere.
