Petite Terre Moorings

16° 10.5′ N · 61° 6.7′ W · approximate

Ten reserve moorings in the lagoon-channel between the two uninhabited Petite Terre islets, a raised coral atoll 10 km south-east of Pointe des Chateaux: turquoise water, lemon sharks and turtles under the boat and iguanas on the beach - and, once the day boats leave, one of the most remote-feeling nights in the Leewards.

Practical

Coordinate approx: mid-channel between Terre de Bas and Terre de Haut, from OSM coastline (checked as open water); the Rando Guadeloupe trail page says boats moor in the lagoon. Reservation is compulsory - no boat may come to Petite Terre without booking a mooring first, online on the reserve website (asso.tite@gmail.com, +590 690 50 35 63). Buoys (reserve website): 9 white buoys for boats up to 10 tonnes and 1 white buoy with a blue ring marked '30 T' for up to 30 tonnes; you select by draft. Price: EUR20 per boat per day plus EUR2.50 per person. Booking blocks: 9am-4pm, 4pm-4pm next day, 4pm-9am, or 9am-9am, so overnight stays are possible. Anchoring is banned. Dinghies may only drop people and gear near the coconut grove - no beaching on the sand. Multihulls World: the anchorage suits boats drawing under 2 m, larger buoys go to day-charter boats, and arrival early morning or late afternoon avoids the crowds. Skippered commercial charters are prohibited inside the reserve. No water, food or toilets ashore.
