Petite Terre Lighthouse

16° 10.2′ N · 61° 6.6′ W

Built in 1840, the 33 m brick tower on Terre de Bas is reputedly the oldest lighthouse in Guadeloupe, nicknamed the 'lighthouse at the end of the world'; a short loop trail leads past it to the island's wild eastern point.

Practical

Position: lighthouse in OpenStreetMap (node 521604098). Wikipedia/Lighthouse Directory: automated 1974, focal height 26 m, light Fl(3) W 12s, range 15 nm, listed historic monument. The Petite Terre loop trail from the coconut grove climbs to the lighthouse, rounds it and heads to the eastern point before looping back along the lagoon: 30 minutes, 883 m, very easy (Rando Guadeloupe). Turtle-nesting beaches - stay on the path.
