La Desirade Anchorage (Grande Anse)

The bay of Grande Anse off La Desirade's main village, the only real stop on this long, quiet, cactus-covered island east of Pointe des Chateaux - a step back in time from the rest of Guadeloupe.

Coordinate approx: in the bay just south-west of the Beausejour harbour (OSM node 9275532327; bay node 4836556644), checked as open water. Approach in good light only and check your chart for reef. A 2017 Noonsite comment says that after one ferry was withdrawn, visiting yachts could tie alongside the southern and western sides of the town dock when space allows - ask the harbour office. A Total fuel point is mapped at the harbour (OSM node 9389652734). Ashore within a few minutes' walk: restaurants such as Les Pieds dans le Sable, La Payotte and Chez Villeneuve, a grocery (Eco-market), a bakery, pharmacy, post office and gendarmerie. Exposed if the trade wind goes south of east.
