Jenkins Bay Trail (Boven)
17° 30.8′ N · 63° 0.0′ W · approximate
A Boven National Park trail that drops through dry scrub to Jenkins Bay, a remote bay on Statia's northwest coast - the way to see this coast, since yachts cannot anchor there.
Practical
Approximate: coordinate is the OpenStreetMap 'Jenkins Baai' label at the trail's destination bay; the trail branches from the Venus Trail network (STENAPA lists it among the Boven trails but has not published its length or grade). Noonsite (June 2025) says all visiting yachts must anchor in the designated Oranje Baai zone, so treat Jenkins Bay as a hike, not an anchorage; the north of the island also holds a marine reserve where anchoring and fishing are banned (STENAPA). Reach the Boven trailheads by taxi past the oil terminal. US$10 nature fee. Hot and exposed; STENAPA warns of strong rip currents at nearby Venus Bay - do not swim on this coast.
