Hurricane Season (Saba & Statia)
17° 37.0′ N · 63° 15.1′ W · approximate
Saba and Statia have no hurricane hole and only open-roadstead moorings - in the June to November Atlantic hurricane season, cruising boats need a plan to run, typically to St Martin's lagoon or further south.
Practical
Coordinates are Fort Bay (representative). Atlantic hurricane season runs 1 June to 30 November, peaking late August through September (Wikipedia, citing NOAA). Fort Bay's piers and breakwater have been damaged by Lenny (1999), Omar (2008), Irma and Maria (2017). Monitor forecasts daily and do not leave a boat unattended on Saba or Statia moorings in season.
