Fort Bay Harbour (Saba Port of Entry)

17° 37.0′ N · 63° 15.1′ W

Saba's only harbour and its sole port of entry: a small breakwater-protected basin on the south coast where the ferries, cargo boats and dive boats tie up, with customs, immigration, the Harbour Office and the Marine Park office all within a short walk.

Practical

Clearance order per the Saba Conservation Foundation: pick up a mooring (or check-in buoy), dinghy into Fort Bay, clear Customs and Immigration, check in at the Harbour Office (open 6am-6pm), then register with the Saba National Marine Park office, also at Fort Bay. If Customs/Immigration are unavailable go straight to the Harbour Office. Pre-register on SailClear (a 2024 Noonsite report says it covered customs but not immigration). Harbour Master monitors VHF 16. Harbour fees are by tonnage - Noonsite lists US$20-40; the park's older yachting page quotes US$20 (up to 40 t) to US$100 (over 100 t); verify locally. Departure tax US$10 per person, cash only (Saba Tourism notes there are no ATMs at the harbour or airport). Land the dinghy in the small harbour below the Immigration/Customs office (2024 Noonsite report) - the park strongly advises landing ONLY at Fort Bay, as Well's, Ladder and Cove bays can be dangerous in swell. Clear out at the same offices before leaving. Fort Bay also has the island's only gas station (Big Rock Engineering, just east along the road), the hyperbaric chamber and Saba Sea Rescue. Taxi Windwardside-harbour was US$21 + US$3 per bag (Wikivoyage, March 2025). A new harbour at Black Rocks, just west of the current port, has been under construction since late 2025, so expect works in the area.
