17° 1.8′ N · 61° 46.5′ W
Antigua's largest colonial fortification, a ruined stone enclosure of more than 33,000 square metres on Monk's Hill above Falmouth Harbour, begun in 1689 as a last retreat for the planters.
Practical
Position is the OpenStreetMap Monks Hill peak. NPA: today a ruin with some of the best views of the whole island; later a signal station where a time ball dropped at noon. A hot uphill walk from Falmouth village: carry water and start early.
