Practical

Position is the OpenStreetMap 'Dive Carib Antigua' node beside the National Antigua Sailing Academy boatyard on Dockyard Drive. The tourism authority describes it as Antigua's only independent five-star PADI facility, offering guided boat dives, PADI courses, Discover Scuba, tec diving and yacht services; email divingantigua@gmail.com. DiveCarib says all its sites are within a 30-minute boat ride (most within 20), it keeps its own permanent moorings on about half of them and drift-dives the rest, and visibility usually exceeds 60 ft. Sites include Black's Point (10-30 ft, inside the Falmouth Harbour mouth, good in rough weather), Pillars of Hercules, Carib House, Red Rocks and Godzilla's Lair (35-75 ft, leeward of Falmouth), Rob's Reef (40-100 ft), Tarpon Alley, Nanton Point, Carpenters Rock, Stoney Cove, Sunken Rock, Barracuda Reef, the wreck of the yacht New Freedom (35-75 ft) and the wreck of the Montserrat, a scuttled former tug sitting upright in 130 ft about half a mile off the coast leeward of Falmouth (Advanced plus Deep and Nitrox certification, and a prior dive with them, required). Nitrox training offered. Note: Dockyard Divers in Nelson's Dockyard, the harbour's dive shop for more than 30 years, has closed (DiveCarib, citing its founder Tony Fincham).
