Flat Point Tide Pools
17° 38.6′ N · 63° 13.1′ W
Colourful saltwater pools in black lava rock at the tip of the Flat Point lava flow, reached by a short trail past indigo-plantation ruins below the airport - waves crash over the outer rocks and fill the pools.
Practical
Coordinates from Wikipedia (17 deg 38'38"N 63 deg 13'06"W). Flat Point Trail starts on the road from the airport down to Cove Bay; easy, about 15-30 minutes each way, with a steep scramble at the end. SCF advises not climbing far down when the sea is rough; rip currents can run in the pools especially November to April. Jagged rock - wear shoes. White-tailed tropicbirds nest at Flat Point.
Best for
Easy short walk to wild tide pools near the airport
