Coastal Cruising Authorisation (Montserrat)

16° 48.2′ N · 62° 12.3′ W · approximate

Permission from Customs and Immigration to move the boat and land at authorised beaches outside the Exclusion Zone, rather than staying in Little Bay.

Practical

Coordinate is the Customs office at Port Little Bay where it is requested. A superyacht services directory states that a visiting vessel intending to cruise the coast must obtain Coastal Cruising authorisation from Customs and Immigration, allowing landing at any authorised beach outside the official Exclusion Zone for up to seven days. Treat this as unconfirmed: the Tourism Authority's 2026 yachting page has a section on wider anchoring permission that is still a placeholder awaiting written confirmation, and Noonsite (2026) reports that anchoring in Isles Bay, formerly allowed, is no longer permitted and that Customs has told cruisers boats may only be left in Little Bay. Ask Customs in writing at clearance which bays (Rendezvous, Carr's, Isles, Old Road) you may anchor in and for how long.

Best for

Ask at clearance before moving to another bay
