Anse des Flamands Anchorage

17° 55.3′ N · 62° 51.5′ W · approximate

The island's longest beach, a sweep of white sand on the north-west coast backed by Cheval Blanc and a quiet village; calm in settled trades and a good stop for a swim and a walk to Colombier.

Practical

Position is off the beach, derived from OpenStreetMap (approx). Open north - only for settled weather with no northerly ground swell, which can make it untenable in winter. Anchor on sand clear of swimmers and moorings; land the dinghy carefully. Ashore: Epicerie Sainte-Helene for basics, La Langouste restaurant, and the trail west to Petite Anse and Colombier. Leatherback turtles nested here in 2025 - if you see turtle tracks or a nesting turtle call the ATE on 0690 31 70 73.

Best for

Day stop on the north coast in calm weather
