Anse Crawen Snorkel

15° 51.4′ N · 61° 36.2′ W · approximate

A shore-entry snorkel from the secluded cove of Anse Crawen on the south-west tip of Terre-de-Haut, around the rocky points toward Pointe Bois Joli and Pain de Sucre - far quieter than the town beaches.

Practical

Position approx: the Anse Crawen bay node in OSM (water off the beach). No source describes the reef here in detail: the archipelago is ringed by shallow fringing reef (Wikipedia) and the neighbouring Pain de Sucre is the tourism board's recommended shore snorkel; the dive centre's L'Aquarium site off La Redonde (14 m, only in calm seas) is the nearest charted reef to the south-east. Reach it by the road past Hôtel Bois Joli and a short walk, or by dinghy from the Pain de Sucre moorings in calm weather. Exposed to swell through the Passe du Sud - skip it when the sea is up. No facilities.

Best for
