Waikiki-Diamond Head Shoreline Fisheries Management Area
21° 15.5′ N · 157° 49.1′ W · approximate
A rotating fishing closure along the Diamond Head shoreline from the Natatorium to the lighthouse: open one year, closed the next.
Practical
Approx position from the OpenStreetMap reserve outline. HAR 13-48: covers the shoreline out to at least 500 yards (or the outer edge of the fringing reef) between lines running seaward from the Ewa wall of the Waikiki War Memorial Natatorium and the Diamond Head lighthouse. Fishing periods alternate yearly: the rule made 1989 a closed year and alternates from 1990, so odd-numbered years are closed and even years open (2026 open, 2027 closed by that cycle; confirm with DAR, rule text dated 1988). Taking live coral is prohibited at all times.
