Waikiki Marine Life Conservation District
21° 16.1′ N · 157° 49.5′ W
A small no-take marine reserve fronting Waikiki between the Kapahulu area and the Natatorium, where reef fish are noticeably tamer than elsewhere on the beach.
Practical
Position is the centroid of the state GIS MLCD polygon (0.31 sq km). Marine Life Conservation Districts are Hawaii's strictest marine reserves; treat it as no-take and no anchoring on coral, and check current DAR rules (dlnr.hawaii.gov/dar) before fishing nearby. Boat access is restricted anyway by the Waikiki Shore Water Restricted Zone (about 0.4 mile offshore, Coast Pilot).
Best for
Snorkeling among protected reef fish right off Waikiki
