Turtle Pinnacle and Honokohau Dive Moorings
19° 40.3′ N · 156° 1.8′ W
Immediately outside Honokohau Harbor, a lava pinnacle where green sea turtles queue to be cleaned by reef fish; neighbouring moorings at Turtle Pai, Turtle Heaven, Terrapin Station and the Honokohau Inside, Middle and Outside sites make it the quickest dive from any slip in Kona.
Practical
Coordinate is the Turtle Pinnacle mooring (Malama Kai layer). Turtle Heaven 19.67108, -156.02923; Terrapin Station 19.67217, -156.03125; Honokohau Inside 19.66793, -156.02883, Middle 19.66787, -156.02912 and Outside 19.66773, -156.02947 lie just south of the harbor entrance channel, so keep a lookout for divers and dive flags when entering or leaving the harbor. Give turtles space. Day use only.
