Port Allen Small Boat Harbor
21° 54.2′ N · 159° 35.5′ W
The west side's working harbor in Hanapepe Bay, home of the big Na Pali catamaran and raft fleets, a commercial pier and the small-boat basin - but its slips and moorings are closed after surf damage.
Practical
STATUS: DOBOR 'limited reopening until further notice': LAUNCH RAMP OPEN; SLIPS AND MOORINGS CLOSED due to heavy-surf damage (page updated 10/5/26). When open: 34 berths, 6 moorings, 2-lane 30-ft ramp, loading dock, fish hoist, washdown, restrooms; harbor phone (808) 335-8400. Coast Pilot: little shelter to anchor off Port Allen; the basin is congested with commercial charter boats and has little swinging room; known for surge, severe at times; fresh trades make the outer area a poor anchorage. Fuel by tank truck only; water piped to the state pier; minor repairs only; harbor speed limit 5 mph; security zone when the fuel barge is in, usually Mondays. Local magnetic disturbance of up to 2.25 degrees reported in Hanapepe Bay. Coast Pilot lists Port Allen as a customs port of entry (call CBP first). Big Save Eleele (Times Supermarket store list) is the nearest grocery. Coordinate: NOAA tide station 1611347 Port Allen, Hanapepe Bay.
