Nualolo Kai Reef Snorkel
22° 9.8′ N · 159° 42.0′ W
The fringing reef at Nualolo Kai - the only significant reef on Na Pali - shelters clear water beneath the Na Pali cliffs; Pacific Cup's Hawaii cruising guide calls it the best snorkeling in the state.
Practical
Coordinate: USGS GNIS 'Nualolo Reef'. Snorkel from the boat or dinghy in the lee of the reef; HAR 13-256-41 bans motorized vessels over the reef subzone, so leave the dinghy outboard off or anchor the dinghy in sand off the reef. Go early or late to avoid the commercial tour boats that use the moorings through the day. Do not stand on or touch coral. Summer only.
