Manele Small Boat Harbor

20° 44.5′ N · 156° 53.3′ W

Lanai's only public small-boat harbor, a breakwater-protected basin in the northwest corner of Manele Bay beneath red cliffs, a short walk from Hulopoe Bay's beach and reef and the Four Seasons resort.

Practical

DLNR DOBOR: 24 berths, 1 pier, 1 ramp, loading dock, vessel washdown, restrooms and showers; harbor (808) 271-2595 (DOBOR) or (808) 559-0723 (Manele harbor office per maneleharbor.com); Maui District office (808) 243-5824, dbor.maui@hawaii.gov. No transient guest slips are listed: call the DOBOR Maui District office before arriving to ask whether a berth can be assigned to a visiting vessel, and have a plan B (Manele Bay roadstead, Kaumalapau, or Lahaina) if not. Fees follow the DOBOR schedule (verify locally). Coast Pilot 10: dredged channel marked by private buoys leads from the bay north of the breakwater, then southwest into the basin; keep well to the right (north) side because coral heads lie near the left edge off the breakwater end; a rock covered 3 ft, buoyed, about 30 yards northwest of the breakwater light at 20°44'34"N, 156°53'13"W. Fishing pier and ramp at the head. The basin is busy with the Expeditions ferry (three round trips a day to Maalaea, about 1 hour 10 minutes) and Maui tour boats. Dockside water is not listed by DOBOR: fill tanks before arriving. No fuel dock; gasoline at Lanai City Service, 8 miles up the hill, and marine diesel only at the Kaumalapau wharf (see Lanai Boat Fuel). Harbor store and cafe at the head of the harbor (hours not published).
