Manele Bay Spinner Dolphins
20° 44.3′ N · 156° 53.7′ W · approximate
Hawaiian spinner dolphins often come into Hulopoe and Manele bays in the morning to rest, leaping and spinning off the beach.
Practical
Coordinate is approx, central Hulopoe Bay. Go Hawaii notes spinner dolphins are often seen in the bay and that chasing them is highly discouraged. NOAA: federal regulations prohibit swimming with, approaching, or remaining within 50 yards of Hawaiian spinner dolphins, and the rule applies to any vessel, person or object. Dolphins rest by day in shallow bays; do not swim out to them, and keep the dinghy well clear. Humpback whales pass offshore in winter (stay 100 yards away).
