Syvota Town Quay (Mourtos)

39° 24.5′ N · 20° 14.3′ E

The harbour of Syvota (formerly Mourtos), a resort village at the head of a bay that a cluster of wooded islets has turned into a maze of turquoise channels. Yachts berth stern-to on the town quay in front of the cafes, with half a dozen anchorages a few minutes away.

Practical

Stern-to on the town quay in up to 2 m, shallower in places, so sound as you back in. The rectangular breakwater has up to 4 m but is mostly taken by local boats, with room for only one or two yachts stern-to or alongside (mySea). Watch for floating lines on the north side. W and NW winds push boats onto the quay and mole and have damaged yachts; expect swell from them and from excursion-boat and ferry wash, so keep well off the quay with a well-dug anchor. Noonsite gives the harbour entrance as 39°24.46'N 20°14.17'E, about 10 nm south of Plataria and opposite the southern tip of Corfu. Facilities per mySea: water, electricity, fuel, gas bottles, ATM; restaurants and shops in the village.

Best for

Base for exploring the Syvota islets with a village night ashore

Season

May-Oct; uncomfortable in W-NW winds
