Skindos Bay (Dokos)

37° 20.7′ N · 23° 20.6′ E

The deep, steep-sided bay on the north coast of almost-uninhabited Dokos, where the Hydriot fleet wintered in 1821 — today a near-empty anchorage under bare hills, with a taverna and the church of Agios Nikolaos.

Practical

Coordinate is an OSM charted-anchorage symbol inside Skindos (Skintos) bay; OSM shows several more anchorage symbols around the bay. Dokos and its waters form an archaeological park, and entry to Skindos bay was prohibited before 2017 — check current rules with the Hydra Port Police. Most yachts anchor near the taverna and Agios Nikolaos church; the small coves either side of the entrance (Derrick's Bay to the west, Agios Ioannis/'Wreck Cove' to the east) are more serene. No other facilities; population about 15–18 people. About 5 nm from Ermioni and 7 nm from Hydra harbour — a popular lunch stop on Hydra Gulf itineraries.

Best for

A quiet night at anchor between Ermioni and Hydra
