Anchorage· Lefkada· Greece — Ionian, Saronic & Argolic

Sivota Bay (Lefkada)

38° 37.4′ N · 20° 41.1′ E

A deep, narrow, fjord-like inlet on the south coast of Lefkada with all-round shelter and a horseshoe of tavernas whose pontoons fill with yachts every evening.

Practical

All-round shelter, but expect strong gusts when entering and frequent gusts from NW-NE inside; strong southerlies push in some swell (my-sea, sailingissues.com). Best to go stern-to a quay or taverna pontoon rather than anchor. Bottom mud and weed, not always good holding; about 2-3 m off the west and south quays and 2-5 m at the pontoons (my-sea). Pontoons are run by tavernas on a "dine with us" basis: 12 Gods Taverna (book a berth on +30 26450 31880) and the Yacht Bar pontoon in the NE corner (+30 6946 670 716 or +30 6979 617 718) are recommended by sailingissues; the west quay can be noisy with flotillas. If the bay is full you may have to anchor further out in 10-20 m (my-sea). Water and power on many pontoons. Approach waypoints: 38 37.400 N, 20 41.031 E (port) and 38 36.860 N, 20 41.500 E (south entrance) per sailingissues.com.
