Palairos Harbour

38° 46.9′ N · 20° 52.7′ E

A delightful, rapidly growing mainland harbour under the bare Akarnanian mountains, with charter pontoons, tavernas and the vast walls of ancient Palairos up the hill.

Practical

All-round protection (sailingissues.com); my-sea notes downbursts in northerlies. Stern-to in up to about 3 m; mostly solid holding in mud, and lazy lines are installed almost everywhere. Afternoon wind WNW, veering to a possibly stronger ENE at night off the mountains. A large charter/flotilla fleet is based here, so berths are easiest midweek: fleets turn round on Saturdays and the port can be packed on Fridays and Saturdays. Water and power at some berths; supermarkets (Arista, Carrefour Express), ATMs, fuel stations and gas bottles in town (my-sea). Port Authority of Lefkada is responsible (gtp.gr). Restaurants recommended by sailingissues: The New Mill taverna, Sirtaki (own pontoon since April 2026) and Panorama.
