Lygia Harbour

38° 47.3′ N · 20° 43.3′ E

A small working fishing harbour a few miles south of the canal, with tavernas on the waterfront and an open anchorage off the mole.

Practical

Mostly full of local boats; visiting yachts may go alongside or stern-to at the end of the mole in up to about 5 m, but do not take a fisherman's place (my-sea). The quay behind the mole is shallow and only suits small yachts. Alternatively anchor off the harbour in up to 7 m; holding moderate on sand and weed (my-sea anchorage point 38.78977, 20.72092). Exposed to N and NE; the afternoon breeze blows straight in. Fuel stations, a few tavernas and limited shops in the village. The feast of Agia Kyriaki is held in Lygia every July 6 (allovergreece).

Best for

Quiet fishing-harbour stop near the canal

Season

Settled weather; exposed to N-NE
