Lichnos Bay (Ormos Agia Kyriaki)

39° 16.8′ N · 20° 26.4′ E

A wide, green bay about 2 nm east of Parga with a long sand-and-pebble beach and sea caves in its cliffs. It is a calmer, quieter alternative to anchoring off Parga itself.

Practical

mySea gives 4-12 m over sand and weed with good holding. The beach is about 3 km from Parga (Wikipedia). Greek Wikipedia lists the natural caves at Lichnos among Parga's sights; explore them by dinghy in calm water. OSM maps beach tavernas (Porto Lychnos, Lychnos Panorama) and a campsite ashore. Water taxis run to Parga. Open to the south. Further east (mySea 39.27891N 20.46688E) is a poorer spot of 5-9 m with moderate-to-bad holding on weed and stone. Plaisance Pratique, following Rod Heikell, calls this the Ay Kiriakis (Agia Kyriaki) bay: a large, heavily built-up bay in Parga's eastern suburbs, about 1 mile west of Agios Ioannis, with some shelter only in its NW corner. In summer keep clear of the buoyed swimming zones and of jet-skis, water-skiers, parasailing boats, windsurfers and paddleboards. OSM places Lichnos beach in the Agia Kyriaki district.
