Galatas Quay

37° 29.9′ N · 23° 26.8′ E

The mainland town quay facing Poros across the 400 m strait. It is quieter and usually easier to get into than Poros itself, and the car ferry and water taxis put Poros town three to five minutes away.

Practical

Navily (via 12knots) lists Galatas at 37.49782N 23.44727E; reviewers note good value (prices have recently risen to match other Greek harbours), moderate wind protection and anchoring problems in strong wind. Wikipedia: the car ferry to Poros takes about 5 minutes and the water taxi about 3 minutes. The Galatas waterfront has supermarkets (AB, Coop open Mon-Sat 7:30am-9pm per OpenStreetMap), bakeries and a laundry. Galatas is the seat of the Troizinia-Methana municipality.

Best for

Cheaper, calmer berth with mainland shops; Lemonodasos and Troezen trips
