Argolic Gulf summer sea breeze pattern
37° 20.0′ N · 22° 55.0′ E · approximate
The Argolic Gulf is sheltered by mountains from the full force of the Aegean meltemi; instead a daily thermal cycle rules — a gentle NW land breeze at night and morning, and a SE sea breeze of Force 3–5 from late morning into the evening.
Practical
Coordinate approx: Argolic Gulf centre (Wikipedia). Sailing Issues for Nafplio: NW land breeze about 8pm–6am, SE sea breeze about 11am–10pm. Sea-Seek: in summer the gulf wind is mostly SE Force 3–5; in spring and autumn winds are weaker and generally from the S. Sailing Issues: SE winds north of Ieraka, NE on the Ieraka–Monemvasia–Cape Malea stretch; in summer at Plaka/Leonidio the meltemi blows from due N. Plan: sail south in the morning, north (downwind) on the afternoon breeze; expect afternoon surge in S-facing harbours (Plaka, Tolo village front), and night katabatic gusts at Astros.
